Editorial Standards
Last updated: 9 April 2026
Verthara publishes lighting guides, buying advice, and product comparisons written for UK homeowners. These editorial standards explain how we research, write, and update our content — and how we keep it independent, accurate, and useful.
Who Writes Our Content
All Verthara content is produced by the Verthara Editorial Team — the same people who curate our lighting range, handle customer questions, and test the products we sell. Our team works from our London office (284 Chase Road, N14 6HF) and includes staff with direct experience in interior lighting, UK electrical standards, and e-commerce operations.
We publish content under the brand name rather than individual bylines because every guide reflects collective research, testing, and review — not one person's opinion.
How We Research
- Product testing. Where possible, we test products in our office using a light meter, colour temperature gauge, and long-term use over several weeks.
- UK standards. We reference BS 7671 (UK wiring regulations), IP rating specifications (IEC 60529), and CE certification requirements when writing about electrical installation and safety.
- Market research. Pricing, availability, and specifications are cross-referenced across multiple UK retailers before being cited.
- Reader questions. Many of our guides are based on real questions our support team receives — which means they cover problems UK customers actually have.
How We Update Content
Lighting technology, energy regulations, and product availability change. We review every guide at least once a year and update it when:
- A product we recommend becomes discontinued
- UK regulations change (e.g. energy efficiency class updates)
- New technology becomes mainstream (e.g. smart lighting standards)
- Reader feedback reveals a gap or inaccuracy
Significantly updated articles carry a "last updated" date at the top.
Editorial Independence
Verthara is an online lighting retailer, which means our guides naturally reference products from our range. We are transparent about this: if we recommend a product, it is because we believe it is genuinely good for the use case — not because of any sponsorship or affiliate arrangement.
We do not accept paid placements, sponsored posts, or affiliate commissions from third parties. We do not publish content written by brand partners.
Accuracy and Corrections
We aim to be accurate, but mistakes happen. If you spot an error in any of our guides — a wrong measurement, outdated price, broken link, or technical inaccuracy — email support@verthara.com and we will investigate and correct it.
Our Expertise and Limits
Our team specialises in residential lighting — ceiling lights, wall lights, pendants, lamps, outdoor and bathroom lighting for UK homes. We are not qualified electricians. Any advice involving new wiring, consumer unit changes, or installation in special locations (bathrooms, outdoors) should be verified with a Part P registered electrician before you act on it.
